Pompeo Gives Kim Jong Un Trump Signed Copy Of 'Rocket Man' CD

A man walks past a large monitor in Akihabara, Tokyo, on June 12, 2018, broadcasting a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

"It feels like the first time I came here all over again, " said Hur Jae, head coach of South Korea's men's national team, who previously visited Pyongyang for a joint game in 2003.

Regarding fears that the US may have softened its expectations in the denuclearization process, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert - who is accompanying Pompeo to Pyongyang - said their policy had not changed and that they are "committed to a denuclearized North Korea".

DPRK is the abbreviation of the authoritarian nation's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

But the statement the leaders signed was short on clear commitments.

The former director of the Central Intelligence Agency added that he expected North Korea to be "ready to do the same".

South Korea's Chosun Ilbo newspaper reports that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is in Pyongyang for a meeting with Kim, is bringing a letter from Trump and the CD.

Also high on the agenda is the issue of the remains of United States soldiers missing from the 1950-53 Korean War.

President Trump reportedly asked about possibility of invading Venezuela
For his part, trump's advisors tried to explain to the President why military intervention in Venezuela may adversely affect US. Santos, a big backer of US attempts to isolate Maduro, said an invasion would have zero support in the region.

Pyongyang on Friday also pushed back against recent US criticism of the country's human rights record, in a commentary by the state-run Uriminzokkiri outlet referring to it as "provocative" and a potential "obstacle" to further negotiations.

During the working-level talks, Japan also reiterated its position that sanctions would remain in place unless the North takes concrete steps toward denuclearization, the sources said.

Over the past quarter-century, North Korea has frustrated or outfoxed U.S. administrations that have attempted to stop and reverse its weapons development through diplomacy and sanctions.

Many of them pointed to findings that indicate a build-up of the regime's nuclear-related facilities.

Players from North and South Korea were mixed into two teams that competed against each other at the North Korean capital's Ryugyong Jong Ju Yong Gymnasium.

Kim Dae-jung's engagement with North Korea was often a source of discord with the hard-line US administration of former President George W. Bush, and disagreements between Washington and Seoul continued during Roh's government. All I can tell you is this. "But for eight months, there's been not one rocket or missile launch or there hasn't been a nuclear test".

Kim reportedly told Trump he had never heard the song - which prompted the President to pack Pompeo off with a CD for the North Korean leader. "I spoke with POTUS while we were both in the air".

"While the unification ministry and the foreign ministry move forward with denuclearization discussions aimed at scrapping North Korea's nuclear program, the defense ministry should further strengthen military preparedness so as to use it as a pressure card in negotiations with the North", he said. "We both hope that's true", Mr Pompeo said on Twitter after a phonecall with Mr Trump as he headed for North Korea.

Scott Pruitt quits as head of USA environment agency
Pruitt had become a constant source of embarrassment to a president who had entered Washington promising to "Drain the Swamp". Mr Pruitt's resignation is the latest in a long list of White House departures since Mr Trump took office past year .

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in North Korea where he could meet with Kim Jong Un.

Pompeo will put that proposition to the test and help lay to rest doubts over whether the president, who has already ordered a suspension of large-scale U.S. military drills with South Korea, is overeager to claim a success.

Choi Kang, vice-president of Seoul's Asan Institute for Policy Studies, said Trump's window to lock North Korea into a genuine denuclearization process may close as early as November if his Republican Party loses congressional elections, reducing the administration's political leverage.

On Tuesday, Nauert walked that back, declining to give a timeline.

While Pompeo has dismissed questions about "semantics" as both insulting and ludicrous, North Korea analysts note that it shows a large gap between the two sides, one that the administration can not paper over for long.

Some North Korea experts also warn that Pompeo's ability to get into the details of denuclearization could be handicapped on this trip without a nuclear expert as part of his small traveling inner circle.

Pyongyang is the first stop on his first around-the-world trip as America's top diplomat.

His round-the-world diplomatic voyage will then take him on to Vietnam and Abu Dhabi before he arrives in the Belgian capital Brussels to rejoin Trump for next week's North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit.

Michael Cohen Says His Loyalty Is To His Family And Country
Although Trump has denied the relationship, the payment was authorized on the eve of the 2016 presidential election. But Cohen told ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos that he respects the prosecutors and the process.
