'FBI lovers' lawyer refuses to testify on alleged anti-Trump bias

Report: 2 House Committees Will Interview Lisa Page This Week

Mr. Strzok, who was briefly part of Mr. Mueller's team, made national headlines late previous year when texts sent to his lover, former Federal Bureau of Investigation attorney Lisa Page, were made public.

The revelation came after Page's lawyer claimed she "will cooperate with this investigation", even as Page defied that subpoena to appear on Wednesday before the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees.

The two agents, who were having an extra marital affair, were members of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, which Trump routinely refers to as a 'witch hunt, ' and examining both Russia's role in the 2016 election along with being part of probe into Hillary Clinton's email server.

Strzok is expected to testify at a two public House hearings on Thursday, but some reports suggest that Page could be a no-show at her planned closed-door deposition on Wednesday. She added that Page first needed clarification about what the lawmakers would be asking and access to Federal Bureau of Investigation documents. She resigned from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in May.

Lawsuits Alleging Roundup Causes Cancer To Advance
A flurry of lawsuits against Monsanto followed, and California added glyphosate to its list of chemicals known to cause cancer. District Judge Vince Chhabria allows hundreds of lawsuits against Roundup's manufacturer, Monsanto, to move forward.

Page's lawyer said Tuesday evening that she didn't have enough time to prepare and had asked the two House committees to schedule another date. 'She was a part of a mess that they have uncovered over at DOJ.

"The Committees would be asking Lisa about materials that she has not yet been shown", Page's attorney Amy Jeffress said on Tuesday, explaining Page's refusal to show up for Wednesday's deposition. Bob Goodlatte, said Wednesday that Republicans recently were forced to call in U.S. Marshals to serve former Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer Lisa Page with a subpoena to testify before Congress, as he accused Page of "apparently" having "something to hide".

Judiciary committee chair Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) didn't buy it.

"Ex-FBI LAYER Lisa Page today defied a House of Representatives issued Subpoena to testify before Congress!" The DOJ watchdog published a report last month that revealed messages between Strzok and Page which suggested the two of them, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, would try and stop Trump from getting elected.

"She has known for months that the House judiciary committee has sought her testimony", he said in a July 10 statement, adding, "She has no excuse for her failure to appear". "Right?!" Page wrote to Strzok. He will return to Capitol Hill for the hearing Thursday, the first time he will speak publicly about the messages.

The Judiciary Committee also held a contentious hearing June 28 with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

He testified behind closed doors last month, and his attorney has also clashed with Republicans on the two committees, accusing them of mischaracterizing Strzok's testimony and then refusing to release the transcript of his interview.

House Republicans have engaged in a war of words and threats against the Justice Department for withholding information about the Trump-Russia investigation.
