Queen Elizabeth II greets New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in April

Cape Town - Queen Elizabeth met U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania for tea at Windsor Castle on Friday afternoon.

All eyes were on the President and the First Lady as they first stepped out of their auto to greet Her Majesty - and many royal-watchers were quick to notice that there was no curtsy from Melania, while Donald did briefly nod his head as he arrived at Windsor Castle.

The couple eventually arrived and were greeted by the queen before the Band of the Coldstream Guards performed the USA national anthem.

Trump was treated with a guard of honour when he arrived at Windsor Castle, west of London.

"You could see that suppressed dominance where he felt that he had to still motion to her". Why, you ask? Because about 12 hours before this meeting, Trump blasted May for her handling of Brexit and said that he "told [her] how to do it but she didn't listen".

But the Trumps kept the Queen waiting on the dais in the Quadrangle during the ceremonial welcome. And while the greeting looked polite, some viewers were left shocked that Trump and his wife had not bowed to the Queen.

In his book "The Art of the Comeback" Trump even said he wished that he was able to "court" Princess Diana, who died in a vehicle crash in 1997.
