‘Troublemaker’ Trump pursues ‘ignorant diplomacy’ - Iran hits back at US

8 2018 US President Donald Trump speaks to the press before departing the White House for the G7 summit in Washington DC

"BE CAUTIOUS!", Trump wrote.

Speaking before an Iranian-American group in California, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized Iran's leaders for oppressing its people and ignoring their needs. U-S officials' anti-Iran rhetoric has intensified since May 20-18 when President Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal.

Many ordinary Iranians are largely skeptical of the Trump administration's support for Iranian citizens because of the harsh sanctions on the country and a visa ban imposed on Iranians barring them from entering the United States.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Mr. Trump has been tougher on Iran than President Obama since the beginning of his presidency and that his latest comments were consistent with his approach to Tehran, which included pulling out of the nuclear deal last spring.

Tensions between the United States and Iran have been at an all-time high in recent days after President Trump wrote an explosive tweet on Monday directed at Iran. But it remains to be seen whether the forces behind those protests can converge into a mass movement, especially as US bellicosity provides the regime with ample fuel to rally its people against enemy forces and justify a rising tide of crackdowns.

U.S. recognises damage done by trade retaliation, announces aid for farmers
Farmer organizations including the American Soybean Association have called the impacts of tariffs on agriculture "devastating". Indeed, the plan magnified objections among many Republicans that the tariffs amount to taxes on American consumers.

Supporters of Iran likened the United States measures to alleged foreign campaigns to interfere in the 2016 USA presidential election, spreading the hashtag #StopMeddlingInIran on Twitter.

"Neither Iran, nor any other country is interested in escalating tensions in the region", he said. "We will resist pressure from enemies". Iranian hackers, meanwhile, were planning extensive cyberattacks on US and European targets, prompting consideration of a USA counterattack, multiple senior US officials told NBC News.

Kimmel found it odd Trump would react so strongly to typical Iranian rhetoric.

Sanders said that "if anybody's inciting anything, look no further than to Iran".

And Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, the 2016 Democratic vice presidential candidate, called the Twitter blast from the White House "another warning sign that Trump is blundering toward war with Iran".

He also said he thought the techniques in Showtime segment would prevent "what I believed was an inevitable attack". If I had not been so distracted by my fears, I never would have agreed to participate in the first place.

"I think they are panicking in Iran today", said Danny Danon, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations. Tehran has said its nuclear work is just for electricity generation and other peaceful projects.

After the US withdrawal from the JCPOA, Tehran and Washington are set for more confrontation rather cooperation, fellow and the director of IranObserved Project at the Middle East Institute Ahmad Majidyar told Azernews.

For some analysts in Washington, Trump is simply trying to redirect the conversation after a week of dire headlines over his much-maligned summit with Russia's Vladimir Putin and a relative lack of progress on North Korea.

While US ties with Iran and North Korea are different on several fronts, the words used by Trump to denigrate Tehran are similar in tone to those he directed a little more than a year ago at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

With popular discontent over Iran's faltering economy and sliding currency, and the prospect of tough new US sanctions, Iran's leaders have called for unity.

Johnson broke Granollers in the final game, sealing the win on his second match point when the Spaniard fired a forehand long. The victor of tomorrow's semi-final may likely face top seed Adrian Mannarino or third seed Steve Johnson in Sunday's final.

Iran "is run by something that resembles the mafia more than a government", Mr Pompeo said, citing what he called Iranian leaders' vast wealth and corruption. He also said the government has "heartlessly repressed its own people's human rights, dignity and fundamental freedoms".
