Ruby Rose: Batwoman casting feels like a game changer

Rose revealed on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon that she found out about her role just an hour before the premiere for her new shark movie The Meg, trying to hold back tears at the event. The news wasn't public at the time, and Rose was anxious she was going to slip up and accidentally tell someone while walking the red carpet, because she "kept spontaneously crying" about her casting.

"I was so nervous doing the red carpet that I basically skipped everybody, because I kept, like, spontaneously crying", the Aussie actress shared.

Rockstar Games introduced players to the outlaws known as the Van der Linde gang eight years ago in Red Dead Redemption . He's part of a crime gang, named Van der Linde, and is lead enforcer as well as Dutch's right hand man.

"Kids [can] watch this growing up and relate to it and feel empowered and think that they can become a superhero", continued Rose on the impact of her casting for future generations.

While many people are happy about the CW bringing a lesbian superhero to television, but many in the Arrow-verse fandom aren't sold on the idea of Rose in the role quite yet. I'm not a guy; I don't really feel like a woman, but obviously I was born one.

Rose will debut as Batwoman in this year's DC-CW crossover before spinning off into a solo pilot and potential series. "I'm also an emotional wreck because this is a childhood dream", she wrote. "I've always had this saying - well, not me, Oscar Wilde - but same thing".

On Instagram, she said as a young member of the LGBT community she never felt represented on TV, adding she was "thrilled and honoured" to play Batwoman.

Rose had been cast as Kate Kane, better known to comic book fans as Batwoman, earlier this week to appear in this December's upcoming Arrowverse crossover. She's even served as the primary featured hero for Gotham City in Detective Comics while Batman wasn't in the picture.
