Nintendo Files Patent For Game Boy Smartphone Case

Nintendo Has Patented a Functional GameBoy Case For Smartphones

Overall, the purported case would essentially transform any touch-screen smartphone into an actual Game Boy, as pressing the buttons on the cover would come in contact with the touch-screen panel beneath it, resulting in an action executed on the screen.

As the images below show, the case has been fitted with a capacitive D-pad and A-B buttons, meaning they could be used to control and interact with the touchscreen beneath. A patent uncovered by Siliconera suggests that Nintendo may be working on the solution: a smartphone case that turns your phone into a Game Boy.

While the case itself is pretty neat, it raises the interesting question of whether Nintendo is working on bringing Game Boy titles to smartphones and similar devices.

PH condoles with quake-hit Indonesia; to provide financial aid
Life is on hold for thousands living in tents and shelters in Indonesian city hit by a powerful natural disaster and tsunami. Aid has begun to arrive after the disaster, however the pace remained slow due to damaged infrastructure.

The source reckons that the uncovered patent confirms Nintendo's intent to market some kind of Game Boy emulation solution for smartphones, tablets, and possibly the Switch tablet too.

Not completely, of course: you won't have to stock up on AA batteries or hunt down your cartridges, and you won't lose the ability to tweet or email (unless you get hooked on Tetris).

The folio opens to show the inside cover of the GameBoy case and the touchscreen device.

"Shame on you!": Protesters, Democrats react to Kavanaugh confirmation
Republican and Democratic strategists expect Kavanaugh's nomination to galvanize their voters ahead of the midterm elections. In what is known as a "pairing" in Congressional jargon, Murkowski voted "present" to honor the would-be "yea" vote of Sen.

The device was hugely popular and outsold much of its competition with the Game Boy and its other iterations still retailing right up until 2003. The smartphone's display will be truncated by a window on the case to simulate the display on original Game Boy handhelds. For example, every smartphone is a different size so how does the Game Boy case cope with that? Towards the bottom, you can see familiar action buttons, and the navigation buttons same as what you would find on the Game Boy.

Still, it's important to take this news with a grain of salt.
