'I don't believe' government climate report finding

Al Gore blasts Trump for 'burying' climate report by releasing it on Black Friday

The report's authors conclude that the changing climate 'is transforming where and how we live and presents growing challenges to human health and quality of life, the economy, and the natural systems that support us.' And that, unless we change our practices and policies, there will be 'substantial damages to the USA economy, environment, and human health and well-being over the coming decades'.

"The area burned by wildfire from 1984 to 2015 was twice what would have burned had climate change not occurred", the authors state.

Lacking the legal authority to quash the report, the Trump administration released it on what is notoriously one of the slowest news days of the year, when Americans are out shopping.

But even before the report was made public, Americans were extremely anxious about climate change.

The National Climate Assessment, quietly unveiled Friday, warns that natural disasters are worsening in the United States because of global warming.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the newly elected United States congresswoman who's already pushing for better and more aggressive climate action, was among Democratic leaders demanding action in the wake of the report's release.

May plans to spend the next couple of weeks selling it to politicians and the British public before Parliament's vote in December. After the vote, German chancellor Angela Merkel said it was a "historic day", but one that left her both sad and relieved.

Trump has long said he distrusts the consensus by almost all the world's respected climate scientists on the link between human activity and rising temperatures, as well as other damaging climate change phenomena.

Democratic leaders agree. "Of course, combating climate change is about more than dollars and cents". "Future risks from climate change depend primarily on decisions made today", it added.

"What the US needs to do is participate in a long-term conversation about how you get to innovation, and it's going to need to be a conversation again that doesn't start with alarmism", Sasse said.

Crop yields from the U.S. Midwest, known as the "breadbasket of the world", could fall to 1980 levels by 2050, the report estimates, and that the southeastern U.S. could develop its own fire season.

That included his work on the Trump campaign as well as his Ukrainian political work, which remains under investigation by the U.S.

On "Meet the Press", Sen. "Rural communities, where economies are more tightly interconnected with agriculture than with other sectors, are particularly vulnerable to the agricultural volatility related to climate". "It addresses our country", he said. "And so I have yet to see a proposal that would bring this about".

Ocasio-Cortez has been a vocal proponent of the Green New Deal, which among other things aims to create clean energy jobs and eradicate fossil fuels as a source of power by shifting exclusively to renewables. "And innovation can be choked out through excessive government regulation".

The report noted that new US records for destructive weather have been set in recent years. Carol Werner, executive director of the policy nonprofit Environmental and Energy Study Institute, says in a statement.

The study also dives into what is causing all this climate change - us. I believe there's change, and I believe it goes up and it goes down, and it goes up again'. "It's not enough to think it's 'important.' We must make it urgent", she tweeted.

"How many wake-up calls do we need?"
