BT avoids Huawei for 5G after stripping tech from EE mobile network

Britain's BT scrubs China's Huawei from 4G network

The decoupling of China's telecoms giant Huawei from the wireless networks of English-speaking countries continued this week, as the UK's largest mobile provider chose to ban the use of the Chinese firm's equipment in its mobile operations.

As news emerges that Huawei's global chief financial officer has been arrested in Canada, to be extradited to the US, BT has confirmed that it is removing Huawei network equipment from key areas in its 4G network.

As part of an "extraordinary outreach campaign", United States officials have reportedly reached out to their government counterparts and telecom executives in European and Asian countries where Huawei equipment is already in use, warning them about the "national security risks" posed by the Chinese firm. Furthermore, following these principles Huawei wasn't included in proposals for 5G core infrastructure.

He said: "We need to decide the extent to which we are going to be comfortable with Chinese ownership of these technologies and these platforms in an environment where some of our allies have taken a very definite position".

Bulandshahr: Four people arrested in alleged cow slaughter case
SK Bhagat, the inspector general at the police station in Siyana, identified the four as Sajid Ali, Sarfuddin, Asif and Nanhe. Some of the accused who have been arrested by the police are said to be linked to VHP and Bajrang Dal .

The world's second biggest smartphone maker Huawei, is at the centre of a spying and trade dispute after a top executive was arrested in Canada, and BT removed 4G networking equipment in the UK.

Huawei agreed that the decision is "a normal and expected activity, which we understand and fully support", despite EE extending its 5G partnership with Huawei to cover live trials of 5G New Radio (NR) and customer premises equipment (CPE) back in February.

Huawei has always denied any improper links to the Chinese government.

Huawei told The Reg it had "been working with BT for nearly 15 years".

Iran wants to expand missile range despite USA opposition
The UK continues firmly to support the historic nuclear deal with Iran. Pompeo said the United States was acting correctly.

It said the process was to bring the EE networks into line with the rest of its business rather than a change of policy.

The report said the Chinese government could force companies to make products perform below expectations, facilitate "state or corporate espionage" or compromise the confidentiality of networks using them.

Meng Wanzhou, one of the vice-chairs on the Chinese technology company's board and the daughter of the company founder Ren Zhengfei, was detained on December 1.

Wall Street Journal in November reported that the USA government will be asking wireless and internet providers in friendly countries to avoid telecommunications equipment from Huawei.
