Huawei: Tackling security concerns may take five years

The report from the United Kingdom government's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) was published in July previous year, finding two low-priority national security findings and two advisory issues in its annual evaluation of the Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre (HCSEC).

Huawei continues to deny allegations, believing its track record across 170 countries supersedes the lack of evidence.

In a letter to Norman Lamb MP, chair of the science and technology committee, Ryan Ding, an executive from the controversial Chinese technology company, pledged to spend £1.5 billion over five years to address security issues flagged last year. The two Chinese mobile giants have been accused by the U.S. government of posing national security risks.

As contracts for the installation of 5G networks are in the works, the White House is looking to send a message that security must not be compromised for the next generation of wireless connectivity.

"As was made clear in July's (report), the NCSC has concerns around a range of technical issues and has set out improvements the company must make", a spokeswoman said in a statement.

The Chinese telecom giants Huawei and ZTE have been in the Trump administration's crosshairs as part of a broader focus on Chinese national security threats that has paralleled the ongoing trade war.

Huawei has repeatedlydenied that its products are a security risk.

Right now, the source said, United States telecom companies have "no clear guidance on how to proceed" with a 5G buildout that excludes Huawei, which controls 28 percent of the global telecom equipment market.

Earth could be headed for its warmest period on record
NASA, in a statement, said the past five years are, collectively, the warmest years in the modern record. NASA added that the Arctic region experienced the strongest effects of the warming trends in 2018.

"Huawei is a closely watched company", he said.

This has sparked fears Huawei could be asked by the Chinese government to incorporate "backdoors" into their equipment that would allow Beijing access, for spying or sabotage purposes.

The law mandates any organisation and citizen to support and assist national intelligence in their investigations and to keep information related to such investigations. "Cyber-security is our top concern and as an independent global company we are totally committed to supplying the best possible and safest technology to our clients".

The next British report is expected to be released in coming weeks.

$900m drug bust exposes Mexico-Australia cartel ties
Three of the people arrested will face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday. Police said the raids stopped more than 17 million potential drug deals.

According to reports, the recently arrested Huawei employee has been pleading innocence ever since the arrest, yet the firm is still facing scrutiny globally over the incident.
