North and South Korea Want to Host the 2032 Olympics Together

WB cooperates with S. Korea, to support in N. Korea

If they continue to focus more on security and protocol than the denuclearization issue, U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could end up meeting for another photo op, as they did a year ago in Singapore, but achieve little progress.

General Robert Abrams, the new head of US Forces Korea, said on Tuesday the summit had helped dial down tensions on the Korean peninsula, but had not led to substantive changes.

"Further, North Korea's conventional and asymmetric military capabilities along with their continued development of advanced conventional systems remains unchecked".

Such advances "continue to hold the United States, [South Korea] and our regional allies at risk", he added.

Continuing to improve their diplomatic ties after the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, North Korea, and South Korea announced their first-ever joint bid to host the 2023 Olympic games.

The observations come just weeks before Trump and Kim are set to meet face-to-face again.

Mr. Kim is said to be considering a state visit to Hanoi ahead of the highly anticipated summit.

However, the country's freeze in nuclear and missile testing since 2017 mean that North Korea's weapons program probably poses less of a threat than it did at the end of that year, the report by Stanford University's Center for International Security and Cooperation found.

The billionaire has touted North Korea, which has a gross domestic product per capita of US$1,800 (S$2,440), as an attractive investment destination for five years, even before the thawing of inter-Korean relations last year.

Malpass also appealed for South Korea's backing for his becoming the next president of the Washington-based lending institution.

At last year's Singapore summit, Trump announced the cancellation of several major military drills between the USA and South Korea, saying they were expensive and needlessly provocative. "So when I look at the whole spectrum, to me North Korea.is less unsafe today than it was at the end of 2017, in spite of the fact that they may have made another five to seven weapons worth of nuclear material".

But lawmakers pressed Gen. Abrams on whether the Pentagon was being kept in the loop on the upcoming summit and whether Defense Department concerns over the regime's military readiness would be addressed.

Ted Cruz Calls Green New Deal ‘Kooky’ and ‘Nutty’
Republicans showed on Tuesday that they are ready to use the resolution as a political weapon against those Democrats. Ocasio-Cortez has subsequently described the fact sheet, which has been deleted from her website, as a "draft".

We must remain vigilant to the threat North Korea still poses to the United States and the worldwide community.

Trump said at a cabinet meeting in Washington on Tuesday Seoul had agreed to pay US$500 million more as part of an agreement sharing the cost of keeping roughly 28,500 American troops stationed in South Korea.

"Today is day 440 since the last strategic provocation of the [North Koreans] ... either a missile flight test or nuclear weapons test", he said.

"Seoul will cooperate with the national government so that the 2023 summer Olympics become something more than a sports festival - an opportunity to change the fate of the Korean peninsula", said Seoul mayor Park Won-soon. "Along the DMZ, there has been significant reduction that has enable nation-confidence building measures ... decreased the chance of mistakes, miscalculation, and continue to preserve space for the main [diplomatic] effort".

"My personal opinion is the announcement of a second summit.is a positive sign of continued dialogue", Abrams said.
