WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Arrested by London Police at Ecuadorian Embassy

A Metropolitan Police statement said officers arrested Assange at the embassy in connection with a June 2012 British warrant for "failing to surrender to court". On Thursday, that appeared to come to pass.

As an Australian citizen, Assange was arrested on Thursday in London's Ecuadorian embassy after the country ended his political asylum over "discourteous and aggressive behavior" after seven years.

In a tweet, WikiLeaks said Ecuador "has illegally terminated Assange political asylum in violation of global law". As the government now tries to get on the good side of the US, Assange was the main thing the Americans wanted, and Ecuador seems more than willing to try to facilitate that. He was arrested on charges that he skipped bail in the United Kingdom in 2012 and at the request of U.S. authorities, London's Metropolitan Police said.

Speaking on Thursday Prime Minister Theresa May said Mr Assange's arrest showed no one is above the law.

Chelsea Fans Denied Entry To Europa League Game Over Salah Chants
Having had two brilliant appearances in the Reds' last two games, he will want to make an impact in this crucial game as well. Both Chelsea and Liverpool have denounced the racist chants sung by Blues supporters about Reds forward Mohamed Salah .

He tweeted: "The extradition of Julian Assange to the United States for exposing evidence of atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan should be opposed by the British Government". "It's not a personal issue about Julian Assange".

Also on Friday, Assange's mother, Christine Assange, took to Twitter to call for police and prison and court staff to be gentle with her son.

"Please be patient, gentle & kind to him", she said.

He was facing extradition to Sweden on sexual assault allegations he vehemently denies, which have since been dropped.

Assange hasn't left the embassy since August 2012 for fear that if he steps off Ecuador's diplomatic soil he will be arrested and extradited to the USA for publishing thousands of classified military and diplomatic cables through WikiLeaks.

"He won't be getting special treatment from Australia".

Moreno said most recently, WikiLeaks released Vatican documents, and that before and after the release key members of the organization visited Assange, pointing to his continued relationship with a group "interfering in internal affairs of other states".

"When Australians travel overseas and they find themselves in difficulties with the law, well they face the judicial systems of those countries, it doesn't matter what particular crime it is they've alleged to have committed", Morrison told ABC.
