Monfries, a 22-year-old Portland, Ore., native, and her friends reportedly climbed the stairs of the off-limits Keating Hall clock tower around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning to take photos at the top of the structure.

Sydney Paige Monfries, a senior at Rose Hill, passed away on April 14 after falling from the clock and bell tower in Keating Hall.

"I heard they were just getting a better view of the city", a senior told the paper. While climbing the set of stairs, Monfries was said to have fallen almost 40 feet through an opening in the 83-year-old structure's first landing.

Fordham said Monfries would receive her degree posthumously.

Because of the Close had to rappel down the alert paramedics of the "New York Post" according to the student, with a rescue basket from the tower window.

Fordham President Joseph M. McShane issued a statement about her death, saying she died "after sustaining a fall inside the Keating Clock tower in the early hours of the morning".

Spokesman Mike Edmondson said the release is not imminent, as the office is processing numerous public records in the case. Kraft and his legal team have fought hard to suppress the videos.

Students said climbing the tower, touching the bell and taking photos of the sweeping views, were part of a senior-year "rite of passage", according to the paper.

University officials are looking into how the students gained access to the tower as the door was supposed to be locked.

"They're unlocked at night when they're cleaning", the student claimed.

Her family rushed to her side, along with two priests, one from the Catholic university, however she sadly died on Sunday evening. Funeral arrangements will be shared with the Fordham community as soon as the university has them.
